March 26 - Fruit

Luke 6: 43-45

43 "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

What type of fruit do you bear? Just because I am a Christian does not mean I bear good fruit. I may not be in the word of God, I may do the opposite of God's instruction, but I still may profess to be a Christian.

If were true, I would bear bad fruit. If I am caught in sin and the quality of things that I take in to my heart and life are corrupt and of the world, the same things are going to be revealed in my life. I am essentially bearing bad fruit and this is evident to everyone around me. When I profess to be a Christian, I really throw a monkey wrench in the gears, because people look to me to see what Christianity is all about. They should see love, patience, kindness, understanding, compassion, conviction, and a desire to save the lost. Instead, if I do not focus on things of above, they see hatred, anger, malice, greed, judgement and so many more things that are dark and unattractive.

Thankfully, through the word of God we have an avenue to things that are holy and pure. If we focus on God and the things of God, our lives will be more like him. What goes in, must come out. In times of distress or emotional problems, are you going to bear good fruit or bad fruit? If a friend loses a loved one or they are caught in sin, are they going to see good or bad in you?

The mouth may speak audibly, but the heart speaks 10x louder...
