February 20 - Legacy

What happens when your credit card or car gets stolen? Most people look for their card or car in the event of a theft. I think the same is true when we lose a friend or family member. We don't neccesarily look for them if the physical sense after they are gone, even though at times we do out of habit or hope, but we search for them in memories and experiences with that person. Our lives are shaped by our beliefs, but also with who you associate yourself with. Hearing some of the discussions in the last couple of days, I realize even more the impact and example we can leave for those around us to follow after we pass away, moving on to be with our Creator.

Seeing someone you love come to the end of their life is very difficult, but allowing others to see how that person has shaped your life while they were alive is a very vital part of carrying out their legacy and love.

We can coorelate this with the love of Christ. He did give up his life to save us and carry out God's will in the flesh. He resurrected to reside in heaven where one day, we will be with him. In the same sense, we are to carry out God's will and His instruction for our lives. Our goal as Christians is to please God with how we live our lives, returning love to Him as He has blessed us with.

2 Corinthians 4:18

18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
