January 31 - Splendor

Wow...what an extreme day. I completed three 30 minutes workouts with my classes, played tennis, got my 5 minute run in and ran a little with my track kids. My eyes are struggling to stay open...bear with me.

A Strange Love

If I was lost on the waves or found alone in a desert land,
I would rest easy and my spirit would be calm, by the touch of your hand.
If faced with great opportunity or to the point of my death,
My soul would be at peace, because you are the source of my breath.
In Romans 12, we are told to live sacrificially for God,
but in chapter 3, we all are guilty of sin, and it seems very odd,
that a God of such might, truth, and control,
could love me, a sinner, and make my heart whole.
Acts 9 represents the redemption of a man of ungodliness,
but the Light, revealed the evidence and it was obvious.
All throughout the day, I stumble and I fall hard,
I complain about the scrape on my knee, while your back has been scarred.
Your hands were pierced deeply, your beautiful feet were too,
the skin on your bones were so deeply cut and bruised.
I've been the Peter, the Judas, the Thomas all the same,
just recognized as a man with a different first and last name.
Give me strength and the honor to stand like Stephen stood,
before the stones brought him down, for believing in what is good.
And as I revisit the cross on the hill of calvary,
I hear a soft, gentle voice, that is always near to me.
The life you lived and sacrificed, was perfect and so true,
"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do"
