January 06 - Sovereignty

Another snow day. Great.

Throughout history, there have been many "kings". Quick think of the first 5 kings that pop into your mind...

  My List:

- Jesus Christ
- King David
- Lebron James
- Elvis Presley
- King Kong

I can't think of a whole lot of things that all of these kings have in common. I'm sure that King David couldn't dunk a basketball. Basketball was invented in 1892, so that rules it out automatically. I would be willing to bet that Lebron James cannot play a harp or a guitar for that matter. King Kong wasn't even human. However, there is one thing that they all have in common...their ability to be leaders and looked to by the public.

Elvis Presley (the king of rock & roll) sold over one billion albums worldwide. He toured for years in states and countries.

King David wrote many songs and prayers found in Psalms which is in the Bible and is a top selling book in the world. Jerusalem was also known as "City of David".

Lebron James, or also known as king James, will have made $80,000,000 by the end of this season. If you have a TV, you have seen his name on it at least once. A war almost was launched when he decided to play for Miami...

There have been at least 8 King Kong movies made according to answers.com. King Kong may not be considered as a hero or a leader, but he could definitely rake in the sales in the box office.

Last and definitely not least, we have the King of Kings. Jesus has this title for a reason. No other king in history can even scratch the surface of his royalty. His father is God. I think that says enough, but I will go on. He lived a perfect life. That's right. Perfect. And to add to that, He died to save the entire world. Regardless of place of origin, gender, or any other characteristic. Christ died for mankind.

Now from the list of kings you made and compiling with my list, which king would you rather serve and devote your time to?

Revelation 19:11-16

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with witch to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

I don't know about you, but I am pretty glad I am on this guy's good side. This is not fictional. It's not make believe. This is the King of Kings who is coming back to take his people home...
